Take the north road from Dungarvan to Ballymacarberry and into the Nire Valley which runs deep into the heart of the rugged Comeragh Mountains. It is one of Ireland's unspoilt beauty spots. Magnificent scenery with wonderful views of gorse covered mountains, craggy cliffs, there for you to explore. The Nire Valley is famous for pony trekking and hacking. A variety of treks with experienced guides are available for both the novice and proficient rider. On then to Clonmel and from there to Kilsheelan where you can cross the bridge over the Suir back into County Waterford, taking the road to Portlaw via Rathgormack. Portlaw was once the centre of the greatest cotton industry in the county. It was an industrial town with its own money, hospital treatment and all that made the life of its people self-contained. From Portlaw into Waterford, a busy seaport and rapidly expanding City. Back home to Dungarvan via Tramore and the Coast Road. On this and other tours you will see many of the Open Forests which you are invited to use for your leisure and recreation. County Waterford has some particularly beautiful forest and woodland areas and the developed sites all have parking and picnic areas. Many have forest, riverside and rhododendron walks and viewing points.
