King House, built by Sir Henry King about 1730 is a house of unique architectural and historical importance.

Situated on the Boyle River, within the town of Boyle, it occupies land formerly controlled by the MacDermot Clan and is the most important provincial town house in Ireland.

Home to the Connaught Rangers regiment from 1788 and the Irish Army since then, recent extensive restoration has brought King House back to its former glory.

Built c. 1750 for Henry Fry, who came to Boyle at the invitation of Lord Kingston. Frybrook House is an imposing Georgian-style three storey house. Many of the rooms enjoy views of the Boyle River, which bordered part of the original 6 acre property.
The drawingroom contains some of the finest examples of Georgian decorative plaster-work in existence, and an Adams fireplace. There is an oculus in the centre of the top storey, above a venetian window. The house has no basement, which is...
