Killyleagh has a huge harbour, and a romantic castle, continuously inhabited for eight centuries....

At the end of the last century, the harbour, where, the oldtimers will tell you "the gardens used to grow", got its big pier. Between 1914 and 1918 a secondary pier and dock were added and a new road, the Rooney Road, was made, connecting the east end of the town to the new dock. Subsequent improvements, including a new fish market, have meant that the harbour at Kilkeel can happily acccommodate one of the finest and largest fishing fleets in Ireland....
